This review by Epert is like a standard summary with a few twists. He hones in on certain traits specific to Sgt. James that are like those of the real men and women that serve in wars. He starts out the review with a light summary of events and a quote from movies intro which he feels describes the situation with James. He compares and contrasts James recklessness with his own life and his preciseness of careful measure when it comes to defusing the bombs. Epert does include the other two main characters and their own personal battles and traits. Also adding historical context through drawing parallels to the movie’s director Katherine Bigelow and the director of Mark Boal who happens to also be a war journalist. From this article I gathered that The Hurt Locker is more than just another American War movie but it is highly realistic in more ways than one to the experiences of soldiers.
